Mary Schmitz is the Executive Director of Welcome to Memphis, a Memphis Tourism subsidiary dedicated to hospitality workforce development and hospitality service professionals.

During the Covid pandemic lock down, she worked in partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis to distribute funds to more than 3,000 hospitality employees in need of assistance.

Ms. Schmitz has worked at Memphis Tourism for more than 20 years, as executive support for the CEO and as director of the marketing, public relations and membership programs. 

She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and is an active Board member of the Memphis Restaurant Association. A native Memphian and University of Memphis alumnus, Ms. Schmitz is a Leadership Memphis graduate.
